LSU’s 35–34 overtime loss to Kentucky was one of last weekend’s most painful defeats. The Tigers had opportunities to finish the game, but Kentucky found a way to steal a victory.
Now LSU must regroup quickly against a Mississippi State team that has become one of the more interesting stories in the conference.
The Bulldogs have an opportunity to make a significant statement. Their biggest challenge will be handling the atmosphere at Tiger Stadium while avoiding the offensive mistakes that can turn a competitive road game into a long afternoon.
LSU needs to rediscover its defensive consistency. Allowing 35 points against Kentucky raises legitimate concerns, especially with Mississippi State coming to town.
The Tigers should have the offensive firepower to win, but I don’t expect them to pull away comfortably. Mississippi State can make this a four-quarter contest.
Home-field advantage and LSU’s urgency following last week’s disappointment give the Tigers a slight edge.
Prediction: LSU 30, Mississippi State 27
