Missouri at Ole Miss

This could be the most entertaining offensive matchup of the SEC weekend.

Missouri arrives in Oxford after an impressive 27–6 victory over Texas A&M. The Tigers’ defense deserves considerable credit for holding the Aggies to just six points, but they’ll face a considerably different challenge against Ole Miss.

The Rebels dismantled Vanderbilt 52–17 last weekend, with quarterback Trinidad Chambliss throwing three touchdown passes. When the Ole Miss offense finds its rhythm, opponents can suddenly discover they’re trailing by three touchdowns before halftime.

Missouri quarterback Austin Simmons will need a more efficient performance than his 14-for-28 passing effort against Texas A&M. The Tigers cannot expect their defense to completely shut down the Rebels.

Ole Miss must avoid becoming overly dependent on explosive plays. Missouri has demonstrated that it can frustrate opposing offenses, and long drives could be particularly important.

This game could come down to which team wins the turnover battle. Both programs have enough talent to win, and neither can afford a conference loss.

I give Ole Miss a slight advantage because of its offensive explosiveness and home field. Expect plenty of scoring and a dramatic fourth quarter.

Prediction: Ole Miss 31, Missouri 27
