There is one new SEC development tonight that clears our threshold. A judge has ruled that Missouri defensive tackle Sterling Webb is eligible for the 2026 season, denying the NCAA’s attempt to dismiss the temporary restraining order that had allowed Webb another year of eligibility.
Webb transferred from New Mexico State and started eight games for Missouri last season. Coach Eli Drinkwitz had already brought him back to practice while the court proceedings continued. It is uncertain whether Webb will be ready to play extensively in Thursday night’s opener against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, but his season-long availability gives the Tigers another experienced interior defensive lineman.
LSU dispute escalates again
The LSU eligibility fight has also become considerably more contentious. Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr has urged the SEC to use all available measures against LSU if the Tigers continue their attempt to roster former professional players, potentially including suspension or removal from the conference.
The pivotal hearing remains Thursday in Baton Rouge concerning the eligibility of Dae’Quan Wright, Zxavian Harris and other players seeking another college season. The SEC’s new prohibition and severe potential penalties remain at the center of the dispute.
I found no comparably significant new injury, quarterback change, suspension, transfer or coaching development tonight among the other 14 SEC programs that materially changes their 2026 outlook.
