Yes—there is one major SEC story developing this morning, and it’s the one we’ve been watching.

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey is personally in the Baton Rouge courtroom today as the SEC, NCAA and attorneys representing players battle over whether former professional players can return to college football.
Judge William Jorden is considering the status of his earlier injunction preventing the NCAA from declaring certain former professionals and fifth-year players ineligible. The judge is also examining whether the NCAA should be held in contempt following the SEC and other conferences’ adoption of rules imposing severe penalties on schools that use former NFL or NBA players.
For LSU specifically, Dae’Quan Wright, Zxavian Harris and Blake Cotton are among the former NFL players involved in the situation. Wright has already practiced with LSU, although he cannot play against Clemson Saturday because he hasn’t completed the NCAA’s required seven-day acclimatization period.
This is potentially much bigger than LSU. The AP reports that roughly 450 athletes are involved in similar eligibility litigation nationally, meaning today’s decision could have ramifications throughout college football.
I checked for significant new injuries, QB changes, suspensions and personnel moves around the rest of the SEC this morning. Nothing else new rises to our threshold right now.
