Now comes a different challenge: avoiding an emotional letdown against an Auburn team that would love nothing more than to spoil Georgia’s championship ambitions.
The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry has produced its share of surprises, and Auburn certainly understands the significance of this matchup.
Georgia’s defense was instrumental in its victory over Alabama, and that unit should again be the Bulldogs’ greatest advantage. Auburn cannot afford repeated three-and-outs or turnovers that provide Georgia with favorable field position.
Offensively, Georgia doesn’t necessarily need spectacular plays. Sustained drives, an effective rushing attack, and disciplined execution should be enough to keep Auburn under pressure.
Auburn’s best opportunity is to create turnovers and keep the score close through three quarters.
I don’t see that happening consistently enough. Georgia has too much defensive talent and should gradually wear down the Tigers.
Prediction: Georgia 34, Auburn 13
