Tennessee — Joakim Dodson lost for the season
Tennessee Volunteers suffered another significant injury blow. Sophomore wide receiver and return specialist Joakim Dodson tore his LCL during Tennessee’s 56-9 victory over Furman and will miss the remainder of the 2026 season, coach Josh Heupel confirmed Monday. Dodson was Tennessee’s backup slot receiver and a significant special-teams contributor. True freshman Tyreek King now moves up the receiver depth chart and could see substantially more playing time.
Texas — Veteran offensive lineman currently ineligible
Texas Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian announced that fifth-year offensive lineman Cole Hutson is currently ineligible and going through an NCAA appeals process. Hutson participated in NFL tryout camps with Dallas and Cleveland but did not sign a professional contract. He was on Texas’ roster for the Texas State game but did not appear on the depth chart or play. Until the eligibility issue is resolved, Texas is without an experienced offensive-line option as SEC play approaches.
Those are the two new developments I found that meet the major-news threshold. I am not counting routine Week 1 performance reviews, SEC player-of-the-week awards, or players merely listed as questionable without evidence of a significant injury.
