Florida quarterback Aaron Philo is coming off an efficient performance in the Gators’ 52-28 victory over Ole Miss, while Missouri quarterback Austin Simmons threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns last week.
Missouri needs to make Florida defend the entire field. Simmons has demonstrated that he can produce explosive plays, and playing in Columbia gives Missouri a realistic opportunity to turn this into a possession-by-possession battle.
Florida, however, has looked like the more complete team. The Gators’ offense doesn’t need Philo to force throws; if Florida can stay balanced and keep Missouri’s pass rush from dictating the game, scoring opportunities should come.
Expect several momentum swings and a close fourth quarter. Florida’s ability to finish drives is the difference.
