The Crimson Tide improved to 2–0 by pounding Kentucky 45–17 in Lexington, an impressive performance in their SEC opener. Florida State enters at 1–1.
Alabama’s performance at Kentucky suggested the Crimson Tide are beginning to establish an identity. Winning convincingly on the road in conference play is never insignificant, and Alabama now returns to Bryant-Denny Stadium with momentum.
Florida State presents a different challenge. The Seminoles possess enough athletes to prevent Alabama from simply overwhelming them at every position, and rivalry-level intensity should accompany a game between two of college football’s traditional powers.
Alabama needs to establish the line of scrimmage and avoid giving Florida State opportunities through turnovers. If the Crimson Tide can consistently create manageable third downs, their offensive talent should eventually produce scoring opportunities. Defensively, Alabama’s priority will be preventing explosive plays that could allow Florida State to quiet the crowd and seize momentum.
For the Seminoles, the opening quarter is critical. Falling behind by two touchdowns in Tuscaloosa could turn the game into a long afternoon. Florida State needs early defensive stops and must find a way to create pressure without leaving its secondary exposed.
The Seminoles should be competitive enough to make Alabama work, but the Crimson Tide’s depth and home-field advantage are significant. Alabama should gradually create separation after halftime and enter the heart of its SEC schedule unbeaten.
Prediction: Alabama 34, Florida State 17
