The two teams arrive from dramatically different Week 2 experiences. Georgia overwhelmed Western Kentucky 70–20, while Arkansas was routed 43–10 at Utah.
Georgia’s offense appears to be hitting stride quickly. Gunner Stockton threw five touchdown passes against Western Kentucky as the Bulldogs demonstrated the depth and explosiveness expected from another championship contender. The biggest challenge this week may simply be maintaining that efficiency away from Sanford Stadium. Arkansas should provide considerably more resistance early, particularly with the Razorback Stadium crowd behind it.
For Arkansas, the Utah loss exposed problems on both sides of the football. The Razorbacks cannot afford another game in which the opponent controls the line of scrimmage and forces them to play from behind. Georgia is particularly dangerous in that situation because the Bulldogs can pressure the quarterback without sacrificing coverage and possess enough offensive balance to punish a defense that begins gambling for turnovers.
Arkansas needs to shorten the game. Sustained rushing drives, third-down conversions and avoiding turnovers would give the Razorbacks their best opportunity to keep Georgia’s offense on the sideline. An early Arkansas touchdown could also energize what should be a loud Fayetteville crowd.
The problem is maintaining that formula for four quarters. Georgia has too much depth, and the Bulldogs should gradually take control even if Arkansas makes the opening quarter uncomfortable.
Prediction: Georgia 42, Arkansas 17
